ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY

Under the open character of the publications that are performed in the Open Journal Systems (OJS), the Editorial Board constantly monitors the possibility of plagiarism of the articles published in its pages, which ensures the seriousness and respect of the copyrights and joins the fight against this scourge that attempts to corrupt the scientific research and educational institutions.

Authors must ensure that the data and results exposed in the work are original and have not been copied, invented, distorted or manipulated.

Plagiarism in all its forms, self-plagiarism, multiple or redundant publication, as well as the invention or manipulation of data constitute serious ethical misconduct and are considered scientific fraud.

Authors may not send to our journal originals that have previously been submitted for consideration by another publisher, nor will they send that original to another publisher until they receive notification of their rejection or voluntarily withdraw it.

However, it is admissible to publish a work that extends another already appeared as a brief note, communication or summary in the Proceedings of a Congress, provided that the text on which it is based is adequately cited and that the modifications imply a substantial modification of the already published.

Secondary publications are also acceptable if they are addressed to totally different readers; for example, if the work is published in different languages or if there is a specialist version versus a general public version. These circumstances shall be specified and the original publication shall be cited appropriately.

This magazine uses an anti-plagiarism and similarity check software in its professional version: Plagiarism Antichecker X PRO.

All items are checked by this software in the initial evaluation phase, and before being sent for review.

ETHICAL STATEMENT

Introduction

We wish to make public our adherence to the standards and codes of ethics established by the  Committee on the ethics of publications. (COPE). Committee on Publication Ethics - in Spanish.  Download Here

The journal is committed to scientific seriousness to collaborate in the elimination of bad practices in the research and publication of academic articles. In this regard, the authors must ensure that the results declared in the text are completely original. Plagiarism constitutes a serious ethical misconduct that will not be allowed in the Journal, which is why the Editorial Board has the obligation to act if they suspect that any misconduct has occurred or if they receive a report of misconduct. This obligation extends to both published and unpublished documents.
The Editorial board will not limit itself to rejecting documents that raise doubts about possible misconduct. It will do all it can to first try to get a response from suspected misconduct and then clarify the situation with their employers or the institution to which they belong so that they initiate a more thorough investigation until a solution to the problem is found.
The editor of the journal will be attentive to intellectual property issues and will work with the Editorial board to resolve possible violations of intellectual property laws and conventions.
The editor may remove works that have problems of scientific malpractice, such as: manipulation of primary or secondary sources, plagiarism or use of sources without proper consent.

Procedure for sanctioning malpractice

Most common bad practices by authors according to Vázquez Moctezuma (2016)

  • Cite sources without having consulted them and omit references that contradict the research itself.
  • Plagiarism, such as academic dishonesty when a person intentionally copies someone's ideas, words, design, etc.to present them as their own. And self-plagiarism when the author does not cite his own previously published articles and takes fragments of those works.
  • Segmentation of research or science salami when the researcher reuses fragments of a previous research without making clear reference to the original publication.
  • Duplicate publication involves the use of full or partial results of a research where authors also change the title, abstract, translate into another language and add co-authors.
  • The manufacture and manipulation of data.
  • Undeserved authorship which consists in assigning an author without making a substantial contribution
  • Conflicts of interest between the author and other subjects or entities, almost always involving funding entities, with the aim of leading the investigation to certain conclusions.

If anyone believes that any malpractice has been committed in our journal, the general editor of the journal should be contacted.

After having been informed, or having known firsthand that any malpractice or suspicious act has been committed in relation to them, the Editor-General shall proceed to examine the act in question.

The General Editor will proceed in the most discreet manner and after collecting information about it to inform the involved or directly involved in the fact.

The editor-in-chief may create a commission to direct the necessary consultations, investigations and conclusions.

In some cases, articles may be temporarily removed from the journal to continue research without affecting the interests of third parties.

Actions will be taken to ensure that the person reporting the accusation is protected.

Action will be taken to ensure that the accused is protected until his or her participation in the events is reliably demonstrated. Individuals accused of malpractice will be protected from false or anonymous accusations. The latter will only be considered if there is enough evidence to investigate the matter.

In case the participation of the accused is proved, the article involved will be permanently removed from the magazine. For these purposes, the editorial committee will deliver a letter explaining the verdict and the reasons that have led to Innovación Estética to withdraw the article.

Authors ' commitment

Originality and fidelity of the data: the authors assure that the work is original and unpublished. It does not contain parts of other authors or other fragments of works already published. In addition, they confirm the veracity of the data, that is, the empirical data have not been altered to verify hypotheses.

Multiple and/or repetitive publications: the author must not publish articles in which the same results are repeated in more than one scientific journal or any other publication of a non-academic nature. The simultaneous proposal of the same contribution to multiple scientific journals is considered an ethically incorrect and reprehensible practice.

Attributions, citations and references: the author must always provide the correct indication of the sources and contributions mentioned in the article.

Authorship: the authors guarantee the inclusion of those people who have made a significant scientific and intellectual contribution in the conceptualization and planning of the work as in the interpretation of the results and in the writing of it. At the same time, the order of appearance of the authors has been hierarchized according to their level of responsibility and involvement.

Access and retention: if the members of the Editorial board consider it appropriate, the authors of the articles should also make available the sources or data on which the research is based, which can be retained for a reasonable period of time after publication and possibly made accessible.

Conflict of interest and disclosure: authors must also indicate any funding from agencies and / or projects from which the research article arises.

Errors in published articles: when an author identifies an important error or inaccuracy in his article, he must immediately inform the editors of the Journal and provide them with all the necessary information to list the relevant corrections at the bottom of the same article (always in a side note, so as not to alter the publication).

Responsibility: the responsibility for the content of the articles is exclusive to the authors. The authors also undertake to carry out a review of the most current and relevant scientific literature of the subject analyzed, taking into account in a plural way the different currents of knowledge.

Reviewers ' commitment

Contribution to editorial decision: peer review is a procedure that helps editors to make decisions about proposed articles and also allows the author to improve the quality of articles submitted for publication. Reviewers are committed to conducting a critical, honest, constructive and unbiased review of both the scientific quality and the literary quality of writing in the field of their knowledge and skills.

Respect for review times: the reviewer who does not feel competent in the subject to be reviewed or who can not finish the evaluation in the scheduled time, must immediately notify the editors.

Confidentiality: each assigned manuscript must be considered confidential. Therefore, these texts should not be discussed with other people without the express consent of the editors.

Objectivity: peer review should be done objectively. Reviewers are required to give sufficient reasons for each of their assessments, always using the review template. Reviewers are required to warn Editors if substantial parts of the work have already been published or are under review for another publication.

Text visualization: reviewers undertake to accurately indicate the bibliographic references of fundamental works possibly forgotten by the author. The reviewer must also inform the editors of any similarity or overlap of the manuscript with other published works.

Anonymity: to ensure that the review process is as objective, impartial and transparent as possible, the identity of the authors is deleted before peer-reviewed papers are submitted. If, for any reason, the identity of the authors, their institutional affiliations or any other data that jeopardizes the anonymity of the document has been compromised, the reviewer must immediately notify the editors.

Editors ' commitment

Publication decision: the editors will ensure the selection of the most qualified reviewers and scientific specialists to issue a critical and expert assessment of the work, with the least possible biases.

Honesty: editors evaluate articles submitted for publication on the basis of the scientific merit of the contents, without discrimination of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, political opinion of the authors.

Confidentiality: editors and members of the Working Group agree not to disclose information relating to articles submitted for publication to anyone other than authors, reviewers and editors. The editors and the Editorial board are committed to the confidentiality of the manuscripts, their authors and reviewers, so that anonymity preserves the intellectual integrity of the entire process.

Conflict of interest and Disclosure: The Editors undertake not to use in their research the contents of the articles submitted for publication without the written consent of the author.

Respect for TIME: editors are most responsible for complying with the time limits for revisions and publication of accepted works, to ensure a rapid dissemination of their results.
